The 10th-ranked Tennessee men's swimming and diving team travels to Charlottesville, Va., Saturday for a tough road battle against Princeton and 13th-ranked Virginia at the UVA Aquatic and Fitness Center.
The Vols are looking at four straight weeks of facing top-25 opponents, beginning with road tests against Virginia and No. 12 Georgia followed by home meets against No. 7 Florida and No. 25 North Carolina State.
"We are entering our whitewater slalom portion of our schedule with tough opponents coming quickly in every competition from now through the NCAAs," UT head coach John Trembley said. "We will be fast and furious through our brutal stretch of four consecutive weekends versus ranked teams.
Tennessee is on a two-meet losing skid against its ACC rivals from the north and looks to turn the tide in the series while holding onto a 5-3 all-time series lead over the Wahoos.
"Our team is pretty healthy and starting to get very focused on the great competitions ahead of us," Trembley added. "Last year Virginia spanked us at home, and two years ago they handled us pretty well in Charlottesville. We are eager to swim a great meet against such a great opponent.
From a diving standpoint, Coach Dave Parrington is looking forward to the first road challenge of 2006 for his young squad.
"This is an annual meet that we look forward to each year," Parrington said. "The rivalry between the two schools has developed into a very good contest over the years. Virginia has a senior diver who is consistent with some big dives, so we are looking forward to the challenge of facing him.
"The addition of Princeton to the meet adds some excitement to the weekend in that they add a new look that we don't typically see," Parrington added.
The meet begins at 11 a.m. and live scoring can be found at virginiasports.com.
