TRACKWIRE POLL RATES LADY VOLS FIFTH THIS WEEK

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Lady Volunteers, who will join the UT men in hosting the Knoxville Twilight on Friday evening at Tom Black Track, are fifth in Tuesday's Trackwire poll and are among three Southeastern Conference schools in the nation's top five.
Texas continues to hold on to the top spot with 60 points, followed by No. 2 UCLA and Florida (49), No. 4 South Carolina (48) and Tennessee (40). Rounding out the top 10 are Miami and Stanford (37), USC (31), Nebraska (30) and Texas Southern (20). Other ranked SEC schools this week include No. 11 Auburn (17), No. 13 Alabama (16), No. 19 Georgia (13) and No. 22 Arkansas (11).
The Trackwire 25 projects a hypothetical score for the NCAA meet, factoring in injury reports and other variables supported by information gathered from coaches and NCAA-qualifying competitions across the country. This projection is generated by scoring the Dandy Dozen, a power ranking of the top 12 athletes and relay squads in each NCAA event.
Lady Vols ranked in the fifth edition of the outdoor Dandy Dozen in 2005 include Toyin Olupona (7th), Tianna Madison (10th) and Courtney Champion (12th) in the 100 meters; Champion (3rd), Tyson (6th) and Loche (8th) in the 200 meters; Nicole Cook (2nd) in the 800 meters; Patricia Hall (10th) in the 400-meter hurdles and Madison (1st) in the long jump. UT's 4x100m and 4x400m relays are rated third and fifth, respectively.
