LADY VOL ROWERS SET FOR NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The University of Tennessee Lady Vol rowing team will make its third consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships when the varsity eight crew takes to the water at 8 a.m. PT on Friday in Sacramento, Calif.
UT's top boat, ranked sixth in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Varsity Eight Poll, will race in the first heat against a highly competitive field consisting of second-ranked Yale, seventh-ranked Virginia, No. 11 Wisconsin, No. 10 Southern California and fifth-ranked Brown.
Racing will continue at 8:15 a.m., with the second heat, comprised of third-ranked Ohio State, fourth-ranked Princeton, No. 12 Michigan, No. 15 UCLA, and ninth-ranked Harvard. The preliminary heats will conclude at 8:30 a.m. with top-seeded California, eighth-ranked Stanford, No. 13 Washington, No. 16 Syracuse and No. 14 Michigan State racing in heat no. 3.
The top three boats in each of the three preliminary heats will advance to Saturday's semifinals, while the remaining shells will move on to the repechage later that afternoon. The top three finishers in the repechage will also earn a spot in the semifinals, while the other teams will compete in the C Final to determine the 13th-16th places. The top three shells in each of the semifinals will advance to the Grand Final, while the fourth through sixth finishers will compete in the Petite Final.
Tennessee's projected lineup for the event is sophomore Molly Oellerich [cox.], senior Kaitlin Bargreen, junior Lauren Wells, sophomore Rachel Mayberry, seniors McKenzie Craig, Dana Forbes, Chelsea Pemberton, Andrea Bagwell and junior Beth Schwartz. Head coach Lisa Glenn also brought along three alternates in freshman Christina Dobratz, sophomore coxswain Ashley Butturini and sophomore Sarah Hutcheson.
Tennessee finished a program-best 10th at the NCAA Championships last season. In 2003, the Lady Vols finished 16th.
