The Tennessee men's swimming and diving team achieved a team grade point average of 3.28 for the 2005 spring semester. The team GPA for the semester is the highest in the 38-year history of the program.
The previous team high was 3.17 in 1996.
"This team has established a phenomenal academic benchmark," UT head coach John Trembley said. "Anytime a group has such a significant academic success it points to elements including positive support from parents, involvement of coaches and particularly our office of academic support. Susan Ratliff, our academic advisor, has worked beyond the call of duty and the results speak for themselves.
Of the 18 team members, 14 accrued a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the semester.
