TENNESSEE WOMEN MOVE INTO TIE FOR THIRD IN TRACKWIRE POLL

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Lady Volunteers, who are in Philadelphia this week for the 111th running of the Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field, are tied for third with Florida in the most recent Trackwire poll and are among three Southeastern Conference schools in the nation's top four.
Settling into place behind No. 1 Texas (65) is No. 2 South Carolina (49), followed by the Lady Vols and Florida in a tie for third with 43 points. Filling out the top 10 are UCLA (42), Miami (39), Stanford (37), Nebraska (30), USC (25) and Texas Southern (20). Other ranked SEC schools this week include No. 15 Auburn and Alabama (15), No. 18 Georgia (14) and No. 23 Arkansas (11).
The Trackwire 25 projects a hypothetical score for the NCAA meet, factoring in injury reports and other variables supported by information gathered from coaches and NCAA-qualifying competitions across the country. This projection is generated by scoring the Dandy Dozen, a power ranking of the top 12 athletes and relay squads in each NCAA event.
Lady Vols ranked in the fourth edition of the outdoor Dandy Dozen in 2005 include Toyin Olupona (6th), Tianna Madison (9th), Courtney Champion (10th) and Cleo Tyson (12th) in the 100 meters; Champion (3rd), Tyson (6th) and Loche (8th) in the 200 meters; Nicole Cook (2nd) in the 800 meters; Patricia Hall (9th) in the 400-meter hurdles and Madison (1st) in the long jump. Both UT's 4x100m and 4x400m relays are rated third.
