Tarantino Finishes Seventh on One-Meter at Zone Diving

Sophomore Jevon Tarantino finished seventh on the 1-meter springboard at the Zone B Diving qualifier at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center in Atlanta on Friday.
Tarantino finished with 639.00 points. Steve Segerlin of Auburn won the 1-meter competition with 714.30. The diving depth of the SEC was shown with six of the top seven finishers being from the conference.
The top-five places in the 1- and 3-meter events are automatic qualifiers for the NCAAs. The remaining three spots from the zone will be filled according to overall performances from the weekend, including the platform event with a total of 13 men from the competition earning NCAA spots.
"I feel pretty comfortable with where he is right now," UT diving coach Dave Parrington said.
Three-meter competition starts Saturday at 3:45 p.m. with platform following on Sunday with finals beginning at 1:30 p.m.
