Rising-senior Lauryn McCalley (Moultrie, Ga.) was one of 15 student-athletes selected to the 2004 CoSIDA Academic All-America University Division At-Large Team released on Thursday. A microbiology major with a minor in business boasting a 3.93 grade point average, the five-time All-American is a key member of the Tennessee swimming and diving squad. This season, McCalley captured the NCAA Zone B Three-Meter Championship and earned two All-America certificates at the 2004 NCAA Championship. Additionally, she has claimed 10 individual event titles over her career.
Moreover, McCalley has demonstrated the Volunteer spirit that is highly-desired in a Tennessee student-athlete as she has devoted herself to service through the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as this year's president of that organization. The Marine Corps also recognized her impact on the University with the Marine Corps Collegiate Athletic Leadership Award for her efforts over the past year.
The citation marks McCalley's third Academic All-America accolade, but is her first from CoSIDA. Her two previous laurels came from the College Swim Coaches Association of America.
