TENNESSEE SWIMMING & DIVING OPENS REGULAR SEASON VS. RICHMOND

Oct. 14, 2004
KNOXVILLE, Tenn.-- University of Tennessee Women's Head Swimming Coach Dan Colella, Diving Coach Dave Parrington and Assistant Coach Jamie Bloom's swimming and diving squad opens its regular season against the University of Richmond on Friday, Oct. 14, at the Student Aquatics Center in Knoxville, Tenn.
"We're real curious and excited after the way we've been training this season to get an understanding of where we are," Colella said. "We're expecting to probably have some good swims, and hopefully for the freshman to give them an opportunity to learn some things and get a taste of collegiate swimming. Richmond is a program that we can't take lightly. They have some great athletes, so it should be a good meet." The Lady Vols and Spiders meeting will mark the first-ever match-up between the two programs. Last year, UT went 4-2 in dual meets, including a season-opening victory against the University of Kentucky.
The meet gets underway at 7 p.m. with the first event being the 200 medley relay.
Next up for the Lady Vols will be a home dual meet against SEC foe Kentucky on Friday, Oct. 29.
