ATHENS, Ga.
University of Tennessee Women's Head Diving Coach Dave Parrington's dive squad continued its successful ways at the 2004 Georgia Diving Invitational at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga., with the three-meter diving competition.
Junior Lauryn McCalley (Moultrie, Ga.) opened up the second day of the meet by taking third place in the preliminary heat with a 482.15 to move on to the finals. Senior Kylee Wells (Russiaville, Ind.) missed the final heat by less than 10 points with a 399.20 to finish in 14th place, while freshman Brittany Fulmer (Maryville, Tenn.) took 24th place with a 336.75. McCalley improved to a runner-up finish in the finals with a 531.75 to finish five points off Purdue's Carrie McCambridge, who captured the event title with a 536.70.
Also of note, College Sports Television (CSTV) will broadcast the Georgia Diving Invitational on a tape-delayed multiple-time-slot basis beginning Thursday, Jan. 15 at 9 p.m. ET
The Tennessee divers reunite with the swimmers in a split home meet on Jan. 10 against Northwestern in Knoxville with the opening session beginning at 10 a.m. and the nightcap at 6 p.m.
