- 4th-5th place in each heat (4th-6th in the six boat heat) go to the C/D semifinals.
- In each of the A/B semifinal heats, the top three finishers advance to the grand final, while 4th-6th go to the petite final.
- In each of the C/D semifinal heats, the top three finishers advance to the C final for places 13th-18th, while the remaining boats go to the D final for the 19th-21st positions.
2nd Varsity 8+ (14 entries): two heats of seven boats each - Top finisher in each heat advances to the grand final, while positions 2nd-7th go to the repechage heats.
- The 1st and 2nd place boats in each repechage advance to the grand final. 3rd-5th place goes to the petite final, while 6th place goes to the C final.
Varsity 4+ and Novice 8+ (17 entries each): two heats of six, one heat of five - Top four boats in each heat advance to the semifinals, while the remaining boats go to the C final for 13th-17th place.
- The top three boats from each semifinal advance to the grand final, while 4th-6th place goes to the petite final.
2nd Varsity 4+ (8 entries): two heats of four boats - Top finisher in each heat advances to the grand final, while 2nd-4th place goes to the repechage.
- 1st-4th place in the repechage advance to the grand final, while 5th-7th place go to the petite final.
2nd Novice 8+ (5 entries): - All five boats race once in the grand final.
