For the second week in a row, Tennessee's Ron Slay has been selected the Southeastern Conference's Player of the Week leading the Vols to two victories at Arkansas and over No. 4-ranked Florida in Knoxville.
The Nashville senior is the SEC's first back-to-back Player of the Week honoree since Florida's Dan Cross during the 1993-94 season and the Vols' first to win in successive weeks since Dyron Nix captured the award Nov. 29 and Dec. 6 in the 1988-89 campaign.
In Saturday's 66-59 win over Florida, Slay's 20 points and 11 rebounds led the Vols to their first win over over a Top 5 team since 1993 as registered his sixth double-double of the season and 10th of his career.
Earlier in the week, Slay paced UT to its first win at Arkansas' Bud Walton Arena, scoring 17 first-half points on his way to a 23-point effort in the Vols' 70-62 win. He scored 20 or more points in a game for the 13th and 14th times this season.
Slay leads the SEC with 21.8 points per game in all games and 21.2 points per game in SEC games. He has led Tennessee in scoring every game during its current six-game winning streak.
