KNOXVILLE, Tenn.
University of Tennessee Women's Head Swimming Coach Dan Colella, Diving Coach Dave Parrington and Assistant Coach Jamie Bloom's swimming and diving squad opens its regular season against Southeastern Conference rival Kentucky on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Lancaster Aquatic Center in Lexington, Ky.
"Everybody is really excited about the meet this coming Friday to kick off the official season, especially after the way they swam this past Saturday at the Alumni meet," Colella said. "They are ready to start competing rather than just continually training. I am looking forward to seeing some areas of our team that we did not see last weekend."
The Lady Vols and Wildcats have squared off a total of 21 times, with Tennessee holding a 19-2 edge in the series history. Last season, Tennessee knocked off Kentucky by a score of 143-99 in Knoxville, while the Wildcats last claimed a wing in 1999 by a margin of 124-12 in Knoxville. UK posted a dual-meet record of 3-6 last season and placed ninth at the SEC Championships.
The meet gets underway with the men's and women's one-meter springboard at 2:45 p.m., while swimming events are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Next up for the Lady Vols will be a trip to Auburn, Ala., to face off with another SEC foe when they battle the Tigers on Saturday, Nov. 15.
