Tennessee opens the 2003 campaign third in the Trackwire 25 rankings. The weekly rankings, produced by trackwire.com, look at a variety of factors before attempting to predict a team's score at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
2002 NCAA Outdoor champion LSU leads the first edition of the rankings with 59 projected NCAA points. SEC foe Arkansas stands runner-up with 48 points. The Volunteers hold down third with 36 points. South Carolina rounds out the SEC top-four sweep with 29 points. Meanwhile, the SEC continues its track and field dominance with eight of its members filling out the top 11.
Tennessee spent all of the 2002 indoor and outdoor season at the No. 1 spot. One has to go back to May 2001 to find the last time the Volunteers weren't on top of the Trackwire 25.
