Jones Captures Three-Meter Crown at 2003 Speedo American Cup

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Phillip Jones took top honors in the three-meter competition at the 2003 Speedo American Cup, at the Counsilman Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington, Ind.
"This was a very exciting contest," head diving coach Dave Parrington said. "The meet came down to the final dive and Phillip was trailing by 5 points. He fought through and got it done. You can't beat situations like this that prepare us for future meets."
Jones scored a career best 632.07 points to overtake Justin Wilcock, who scored 626.55 points. Tennessee signee Jevon Tarantino finished third with a 599.16.
" I enjoyed competing in the head-to-head diving format," Jones said. "It was intense and really fun. It came down to the last dive and you can't ask for more than that."
