Francois Ready for World Junior Championships

Frank Francois will represent Tennessee in the 800M run at the IAAF/Coca-Cola World Junior Championships this week at National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica. Francois, a rising sophomore from Burke, Va., qualified for the World Juniors with a lifetime-best second-place, 1:48.99 performance at the USA Junior Outdoor Championships June 22 in Palo Alto, Calif. Francois lopped off about two seconds from his career-best time to secure his spot in the Worlds.

Francois will face the world's best 800M runners age 19 and younger in three rounds of competition in Jamaica. Competitors advancing to the finals will race the 800M run a grueling three times in four days. Francois' meet begins Tuesday night with the first round. The semifinals will be held Wednesday night. The 800M run finals will be contested Friday night.
