Vol Golfers to Compete in Schenkle/ E-Z-GO Invitational

The fifth-ranked Tennessee men's golf team will be competing in the 2002 Schenkel/E-Z-GO Invitational. The tournament will be held at Forest Heights Country Club (par 72, 6,945 yards) in Statesboro, Ga. from March 23-24.
The Vols are coming off a fourth place finish at the Seminole Intercollegiate. UT fired scores of 298-291-301--890. Freshman David Skinns recorded his fifth top 10 finish of the season with a 71-71-71--213 to finish tied for second. Senior Andrew Black and junior Andrew Pratt finished 12 and 13 respectively.
This tournament will feature some of the nation's top teams. Among those competing that are in the Golfweek Top 25 include: No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 Wake Forest, No. 4 Florida, No. 5 Tennessee, No. 10 Auburn, No. 11 Washington, No. 14 Georgia and No. 18 Augusta State. Other teams competing include Duke, East Tennessee State, LSU, North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina and host Georgia Southern.
The Vols competed in the Schenkel/E-Z-GO Invitational last year, finishing 12th. Defending SEC Champion Georgia won the tournament, edging out host Georgia Southern.
