Vols Finish Fourth at Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- The fifth-ranked Tennessee men's golf team finished fourth at the Seminole Intercollegiate, which was played at Golden Eagle Country Club (par 72, 6,847 yards). The Vols shot a 298-291-301--890.
Freshman David Skinns led the way for UT, as he fired scores of 71-71-71--213 to finish tied for second. Senior Andrew Black was the second highest Vol finisher, as he finished 12th with scores of 74-71-75--220. Junior Andrew Pratt finished one stroke behind Black with a 221 to tie him for 13th. Other Vol finishes included junior Ian Parnaby (236) tied for 66th and senior Jimmy White (246) tied for 76th.
North Carolina won the tournament with a 286-297-292--875. The Tarheels finished five strokes ahead of 24th-ranked UAB, who finished with a scorecard of 295-294-291--880. Duke finished third with an 884, while Tennessee (890) and the College of Charleston (891) rounded out the top teams. North Florida, ranked 25th, finished in 15th with a 928.
Graeme McDowell of UAB took top medalist honors. McDowell finished with a 68-69-69--206 (10-under par), to finish seven strokes ahead of four players tied for second. The four-player tie for second included Skinns of UT, Martin Rominger of South Carolina, Craig Gordon of UAB and Bob Cherry of North Carolina. The players had three-round scores of 213.
The Vols will next be in action at the Schenkel/E-Z-GO Intercollegiate, which will be played at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga. from March 23-24. UT competed in this tournament last year, finishing 12th.
