Tennessee Completes Second Day at SEC Championships

The Tennessee men's diving squad competed in the one-meter diving competition to complete the second day of the SEC Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. Freshman Phillip Jones took home a seventh place finish for the Vols with a score of 292.55, putting Tennessee in fourth place with 36 points. UT trails third place Alabama (39), second place Auburn (48) and first place Kentucky (73).
Jones and junior Jake Dorsey were the Vol divers competing in today's competition. Dorsey finished 19th in the preliminaries with 230.30 points and did not advance to the finals, while Jones placed second in the preliminaries with 321.15 points and later finished seventh in the finals. Winning the competition was Kentucky's Clayton Moss with a score of 344.60.
Head diving coach Dave Parrington had this to say after a long day of diving, "I am a little down about the outcome tonight, I had high expectations for our divers, but I am very proud of the way we competed."
The diving competition continues on Wednesday with platform diving, while the swimming gets underway with the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay. The preliminaries start at 10:15 a.m. ET, with the finals beginning at 6:00 p.m. ET.
