Vols Currently Tied for Fourth at Mercedes-Benz Collegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- The seventh-ranked Tennessee golf team is currently tied for fourth at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship at Sawgrass Country Club (par 72, 6,895 yards) in Jacksonville, Fla. The Vols fired in scores of 307-290--597 to tie them with second-ranked Wake Forest.
Senior Jimmy White leads the Vols after day one. White turned in scores of 75-71--146 to tie him for ninth. Junior Ian Parnaby is behind White at 13th. Parnaby had scores of 76-71--147. Other Vol scores include junior Andrew Pratt tied for 32nd with a 74-78--152, freshman David Skinns tied for 49th with a 83-73--156 and senior Andrew Black tied for 56th with a 82-75--157.
The No. 5 ranked Florida Gators lead the tournament. Florida fired a 298-287--585 to lead the tournament by six strokes over tournament host North Florida (303-288--591). LSU (594), Tennessee (597) and Wake Forest (597) round out the top teams competing in the tournament.
In the individual portion of the tournament, Florida's Camilo Villegas is the leader. Villegas fired a 71-66--137. Jason Hartwick of Texas is in second with scores of 77-64--141. Nathan Goulding of LSU, Garth Mulroy of N.C. State and Scott Jamieson of Augusta State are tied for third with scores of 142 to round out the top individuals.
Tennessee will be in action again on Tuesday with the final round of the tournament.
