Vols Finish Sixth at Ridges Intercollegiate

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.-- The University of Tennessee men's golf team finished in sixth place at the Bank of Tennessee/The Ridges Intercollegiate golf tournament. The tournament was held at The Ridges Golf and Country Club (par 72, 7,038 yards). Over three rounds, the Vols shot 288-288-289--865.
Senior Andrew Black led the Vols with a 13th-t place finish. Black finished with a 68-74-73--215 for one under par. Fellow senior Jason Powell finished tied for 22nd with a 74-72-71--217. Other Vol scores include: junior Andrew Pratt (31st-t) with a 219, junior Ian Parnaby (43rd-t) with a 221 and senior Jimmy White (48th-t) rounding out the UT scores with a 223.
Texas Christian won the tournament for the second time in as many years. The Horned Frogs as a team were 23 strokes under par with scores of 274-280-287--841. Following TCU was Southern California with scores of 284-274-293--851. Oklahoma (857), South Carolina (858) and Auburn (860) rounded out the top five teams.
In individual competition, TCU took the top two spots. Steve Shuert shot a 69-67-68--204 to take top individual honors, while teammate Adam Rubinson came in second with a 64-69-73--206. Martin Flores (207) of Oklahoma, Bill Haas (207) of Wake Forest and David Oh (208) of Southern California were the other top individual finishers.
The Vols will next be in action on Sept. 17-18 when they travel to Toledo, Ohio to compete in the Inverness Intercollegiate.
