The University of Tennessee men's golf team will be competing in the second annual Inverness Intercollegiate in Toledo, Ohio from Sept. 17-18. The tournament will be held at Inverness Country Club (par 71, 7,255 yards). This will mark the first time the Vols have competed in this tournament.
The Vols will face a tough field, that includes the defending national champion Florida Gators. The rest of the field includes: Fresno State, Kansas, Kent State, Long Beach State, North Florida, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Southern Methodist, Texas Christian, Toledo and Alabama-Birmingham.
After last weekend's sixth place finish at The Ridges Intercollegiate, head coach Jim Kelson is looking optimistic about the upcoming tournament.
"I thought we got off to a good start last weekend at The Ridges Intercollegiate," Kelson said. "Qualifying has been going well and I am starting to see quite a few low scores. I am really looking forward to this weekend and having freshman David Skinns joining the team after playing for his home country of England in the Home Internationals."
Including Skinns, Kelson will field seniors, Andrew Black, Jason Powell and Jimmy White, as well as junior Andrew Pratt.
The 15-team tournament is compromised of 54 holes, 36 to be played on Monday, and the remaining 18 to be played on Tuesday.
