INDIANAPOLIS - University of Tennessee diver Lizzy Flynt, a senior during the 2000-01 season, has been awarded a NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Flynt was one of 58 women who participate in winter and spring sports selected to receive the $5,000 award.
The NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship requires student-athletes to have a 3.0 grade point average and perform with distinction as a member of a varsity team. The NCAA scholarship is one of many awards that Flynt has earned following the completion of her Lady Vol career. Flynt is a biochemistry and molecular biology major and sports a 3.87 grade point average.
In addition to the academic honors, Flynt made a name for herself in the diving well as she earned All-America honors three times during her Tennessee career after transferring from Auburn after her freshman season. The Auburn, Ala., native, was also a three time silver medallist on the platform at the SEC Championships and was the national runner-up on the tower as a junior. Flynt was named to the Knoxville News-Sentinel All-SEC team twice during her career at UT while she also participated in the 2000 Olympic Trials and is a former member of the U.S.A. Diving National Team.
