Tennessee head coach Jim Kelson announced the signing of Lawrence Dodd. Dodd is the second to sign with the Vols, as John Brannen of Clarksville, Tenn. has already signed. The two will begin play for the Vols in the fall of 2002.
Dodd, of Suffolk, England, comes to the Vols as a decorated golfer, winning many tournaments in his native country. Kelson feels Dodd is one of England's most promising junior prospects.
"We feel that Lawrence has the tools to make an immediate impact on our program," Kelson said. "He has a superb golf swing coupled with great length off the tee. Unquestionably, Lawrence is one of the best ball strikers we have seen in a long time. He is an explosive type player who is capable of shooting low scores."
Dodd plans on competing in all of Great Britain's major amateur events this spring and next summer before arriving in Knoxville next fall.
