* Tennessee falls to 4-3 on the season ... Memphis improves to 7-3 ... Tonight's win was the Tigers' first in the series since 1996, snapping UT's five-game victory string ... The Vols are 2-1 on the road this season.
* UT leads the series 10-6 that has been played on a yearly basis since the 1988-89 campaign ... Tennessee now has a 3-3 mark in The Pyramid against the Tigers and are 4-4 in the series games played at Memphis
* Tonight's game matched the leading scorers in the Southeastern Conference and Conference USA ... Vincent Yarbrough entered the game averaging 21 points per game to lead UT and Memphis freshman Dajuan Wagner averaging 23 ... Wagner scored 17 tonight, while Yarbrough tallied 15.
* Tennessee took a 33-31 lead into halftime ... Memphis began the second half on a 10-4 run ... The Tigers concentrated on getting the ball inside in the second half and connected on 52 percent of their shots (12-of-23) after hitting just 36 percent (13-of-36) in the first stanza... The Vols made a season-low two 3-three point field goals and hit just 17 percent (2-of-12) tonight ... UT entered the game ranked fourth nationally in three-point field goal percentage (.460).

* Ron Slay scored led the Vols in scoring with 18 points on 8-of-20 shooting from the field ... Slay pulled down five rebounds and played a season-high 32 minutes.
* Marcus Haislip scored 14 and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds in his 2001-02 season debut ... Haislip missed the Vols first six games of the season while serving an academic suspension for the fall semester ... UT's fall semester ended Thursday.
* Thaydeus Holden, who did not score in the first half, scored 10 in the second, including some big points down the stretch as the Vols came back from an 11-point deficit ... Holden scored the Vols last six points ... His three-pointer with 14 seconds remaining pulled the Vols within two at 70-68 ... He hit a free throw with 1.9 remaining to pull UT within two (71-69) and intentionally missed the second to give UT a chance to win or tie, but UM grabbed the rebound.
* Tennessee returns home Monday to face Radford in a 7:30 (EST) tipoff ... Tonight's game was the Vols first of four games in eight days.
