HEAD COACH BUZZ PETERSON
"I'm glad it's over. I wasn't looking forward tonight. It's an eerie feeling knowing how things have evolved. Appalachian has always been a special place to me. Houston had a good impact on our program while we were there.
"I was very nervous about tonight's game because I didn't know about our confidence after the Great Alaska Shootout.
"I love the way Appalachian plays. Houston brings a long of enthusiasm and intensity to the Mountaineers.
"I didn't like Crump's effort in the first half. I challenged him and he came back in the second half. One of our goals tonight was to keep our turnovers below 12. We just don't handle pressure very well. We took care of the ball in the second half, but we need to put more value on taking care of the ball.
"I had a lot to say at the half. They needed a stiff challenge and I gave it to them. I liked what I saw the rest of the game.
APPALACHIAN STATE HOUSTON FANCHER
"I'm disappointed with the way we competed in the second half, from the last play of the first half on. We have a guy on the line to give us a one-point lead and they make a three at the buzzer. They were the aggressor and took it to us. They ripped our press. We played tired and uninspired. We knew our schedule was tough early. We played a good team in a tough facility. I hope we can learn from it. It can't hurt too long because we have Liberty University on Saturday. It should serve as motivation. Buzz's team kicked our team's tail. I'm glad it's over. He's as good a friend as I have. No game is as important as our friendship. We didn't make the shots and that limits you defensively. We just weren't involved in the second half and kind of reacted. It's very disappointing."
