Vols Finish Seventh at Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate

BATON ROUGE, La.--The No. 2 ranked Tennessee men's golf team finished in seventh place at the Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate. The Vols fired a 292-285-292--869.
Freshman David Skinns recorded his third top ten finish in as many tournaments, with a seventh place finish. Skinns fired a 71-71-69--211 to finish 5-under par. Junior Andrew Pratt rebounded from two rounds of one over par to finish with a third round score of 70. Pratt's scores of 73-73-70--216 were good enough to tie him for 17th. Junior Ian Parnaby finished tied for 24th with scores of 74-69-75--218, while seniors Andrew Black and Jimmy White finished in 51st and 62nd respectively. Black fired a 74-72-78--224 and White had a 74-74-79--227.
Graeme McDowell of UAB finished where he had left off after the first day, and won the tournament with scores of 70-66-68--204 (12-under par). McDowell beat out Lee Williams of Auburn by three strokes. Williams had a 65-71-71--207 (9-under par). Andy Smith of Southeastern Louisiana, Daniel Ozley of UAB and Andrew Medley of Ole Miss finished tied for third with scores of 208.
UAB also claimed the team championship. The Blazers won the tournament with scores of 284-283-289--856 (8-under par). Auburn finished one stroke behind UAB with a 207, while Ole Miss finished in third with an 858. North Florida (859) and LSU (862) rounded out the top five teams competing.
The Vols have now completed the fall portion of their schedule. They ended with a four tournament record of 44-12 (.786) and 15-6 (.714) in the SEC. During the fall, the Vols finished sixth at The Ridges Intercollegiate, second at the prestigious Carpet Capital Collegiate, came back from a seven stroke deficit to claim their second Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions title, and most recently finished seventh at the Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate.
Tennessee will open the spring portion of the schedule at the Rice Intercollegiate in Katy, Texas, on Feb. 11-12.
