| Tennessee's 2001-2002 swimming and diving season will be focused on a balanced attack of eight returning All-Americas and nine talented freshman. Led by senior co-captains Justin Hoggatt and Jeremy McDonnell, the Vols will navigate a tough road-heavy schedule. The burden will not be as difficult thanks to their supporting cast. Andrew Bree, Mike Burton, Renato Gueraldi, Greg Simpson, Chris Stewart and Brett Tannhauser round out the returning All-Americas from last season. These eight swimmers will bring the leadership and experience this young Volunteer squad needs. | ||

| Sprint Freestyle | ||
| Renato Gueraldi, who holds the fastest time for the Vols with 19.75, and Mike Burton with the second fastest time of 20.20 will lead the Vols sprinters this season. Seniors Justin Hoggatt and Jeremy McDonnell will help with the leadership and add depth to the pool. Rounding out the group will be Andrew Bree, Jamie Graves and two talented freshmen George DuRand and Bradley Duryea. | ||
| Distance Freestyle | ||
| Brett Tannhauser leads the distance freestylers this year. Last season he turned in times of 4:23.09 in the 500, 9:18.53 in the 1000 and a team-leading 15:20.19 in the 1650. Junior Greg Simpson will contribute to the squad again after having a solid season last year. He brings in a top time of 1:37.28 in the 200. Evan Nylander, who swam a 4:29.46 in the 500 and a 15:42.02 in the 1650, will be looking to add depth to this year's team. Michael Gross, who has been plagued by injuries, will also look to contribute this season. | ||

| Butterfly | ||
| Justin Hoggatt and Matt Parrish will lead this year's butterfly squad. Hoggatt's top time in the 100 is 47.01, while Parrish put up a time of 49.29. Junior Jason Baxter will be providing the team with some depth. His top time comes in the 200 (1:48.31). Jamie Graves will also be looking to improve after a top time of 1:51.80 in the 200, while freshmen Josh Fulton and David Zeman will hit the water as Vols for the first time. | ||

| Individual Medley | ||
| Ben Brink returns with the top 400 I.M. time from last season which was 3:55.08. Junior Jason Baxter swam a 3:55.63 in last year's conference final in the 400 I.M. Jeremy McDonnell will help add depth with the team's fastest time in the 200 I.M. (1:46.86). Evan Nylander will pay dividends as will other sophomores Andrew Bree, Evan Fischer and Paulo Machado. Freshmen Thomas Clavier and George du Rand should help score points this season. | ||

| Following the grueling schedule that includes 11 dual meets and a pair of invitational meets, the Vols will turn their attention to the championship season. The Southeastern Conference Championships will be held in Fayetteville, Ark. Feb. 20-23, as the nation's top swimming and diving conference will shoot it out in a fast and furious weekend. The NCAA Championships await at the end of March in Athens, Ga. |
