Aqua Vols Defeat Kentucky, LSU

Tennessee opened its home season with wins against the Kentucky Wildcats and the LSU Tigers Friday afternoon at the UT Student Aquatic Center. The Vols defeated the Tigers, 131-124, and downed the Wildcats 124-113 to improve their overall record to 7-0.
The Vols won 9 out of the 13 events they competed in, including the first. Freshman Phillip Jones started the attack by winning the three-meter diving and placing second in the one-meter diving. Other Vol winners included Brett Tannhauser (1000 Free), Andrew Bree (200 Free, 200 Breast), Renato Gueraldi (50 Free), Jeremy McDonnell (200 I.M), Greg Simpson (100 Free) and Paulo Machado (200 Back).
Tennessee is now 31-3 all-time against Kentucky and 8-0 versus the Tigers.
"We had a good meet with good swims," head coach John Trembley said. "We beat two very good teams today, but we have to keep getting better."
Tennessee will now prepare for a dual meet against Notre Dame, Nov. 2 in South Bend, Ind.
