Colyer and Stamps Named Track Team Captains

Toby Colyer and Hassaan Stamps will serve as team captains for the 2001 track and field squad head coach Bill Webb announced on Friday. Colyer and Stamps were selected by a vote of the squad. Colyer, a senior from McAlisterville, Pa., owns a top mark of 225-10 in the javelin to lead the team. Colyer earned All-America honors at the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Championships with his 11th-place (eighth American) finish. Stamps, a junior from Powder Springs, Ga., made the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Championships field by running the second leg of Tennessee's 4x400M relay. Stamps, primarily a hurdler, owns the squad's top time in the 400M hurdles, a 2000 NCAA provisional time of 51.12.
