Qualified for the semifinals of the 100M and 200M dash at the NCAA Championships
with times of 10.38 (16th) and 21.17 (15th) in the preliminaries...NCAA trip
ended with semifinals times of 10.35 (14th) and 20.82 (11th) from lane one...Missed
the SEC Championships with a slight strain of his right quadricep...In his
first action since the injury, Scott ran a steady third leg of Tennessee's
provisionally-qualified 4x400M relay (3:04.72), the fastest Vol time since
1992...Ran the provisional time that took him to the NCAAs at the SEC Quad
(April 1) in Auburn, Ala., a 20.59 to take third...Also ran his best wind-aided
100M dash of the season at the SEC Quad by clocking a 10.18w to earn third...Won
the 200M dash at the Sea Ray Relays (April 14) in 20.61...Career-best wind-legal
100M dash time of 10.26 came at the Sea Ray Relays where he finished third...Ran
a 10.45 in the 100M dash at the Florida Relays (March 25) to grab second...Crossed
the line in 10.38w in the 100M dash at the National Invitational Team Championships
(April 22) to finish eighth...Also ran a 20.91 in the same meet to qualify
for the finals but scratched...Ran the second leg of Tennessee's two season-best
4x100M relay times (40.17 at the Florida Relays and 20.20 at the Sea Ray Relays)
Indoor- Scott earned All-America honors in the 60M dash for his performance
at the NCAA Championships...Finished fourth in the 200M dash in 20.55 at the
NCAAs...Placed fifth in the 60M dash at the NCAAs after running a 6.68...Scott
matched his season-best 60M time from the Wisconsin Elite Invitational by
running a 6.62 in the NCAA preliminaries...Broke the school indoor 200M dash
record twice in the same day at the NCAA Championships (March 10) by running
a 20.75 in the preliminaries before speeding to finish 20.55 in the finals...Scott
broke the school indoor 200M dash record four times during the 2000 indoor
season and five times in his career...At the SECs, Scott ran a 20.85 to take
third in the 200M dash and earn second in the 60M dash by running a 6.63...Notched
provisional times in his first 60M dash of the season, a 6.66 at the SEC Quad
in Lexington, Ky., and in his first 200M dash of the season, a 20.95 at the
Kroger Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. ...Additionally, Scott regularly ran
the fastest splits on Tennessee's 4x400M relay teams...Scott ran the third
leg of the Vols' top two 4x400M relay efforts of the season, a 3:12.65 at
the SEC Championships and a 3:13.41 at the Kroger Invitational.
1999- A tremendous competitor and world-class sprinter who rewrote the Tennessee record books in his rookie campaign...Took NCAA Indoor 60M dash title in 6.58 to earn his first All-America selection on the year...Finished second at the SEC Indoor Championships in the 55M dash with time of 6.12 and earned third in the 200M dash in an indoor school-record 20.97...Second all-time on the Tennessee best list in the 55M dash with his blazing SEC Indoor preliminary heat time of 6.07 which was also a SEC meet record for 55M...Etched his name tops in the record book with a Tennessee all-time best 6.56 in winning the 60M dash at the IKON Invitational in Johnson City...Mark of 6.64 in victory at the Tennessee/Indiana/Ohio State three-way meet tied the previous school record 60M dash effort...Claimed another title by breaking the tape first in 6.68 in the 60M dash at the Virginia Tech Invitational...Outdoors, Scott didn't disappoint either...Tabbed All-America the second time of the year in the 100M dash by virtue of 10.14 in the first heat and eventual eighth-place (U.S.) finish, ninth overall, at the NCAA Outdoor Championships...However, Scott's semi-final heat time lacked .004 of a second to qualify for the finals of the 100M dash at the NCAAs...Ranked as fastest junior sprinter in the world according to World Junior Athletics News...Won the U.S. Junior National 100M title in 10.12w and earned spot on the U.S. Jr. Pan-Am team...Took runner-up honors at the Miami Invitational in the 100M dash with a time of 10.38, only .04 seconds behind the winner, Olympic sprinter Dennis Mitchell...Ran a wind-aided 9.83 in the 100M dash at the Sea Ray Relays to win the Tony Wilson Outstanding Track Performer Award...Won the Most Valuable Freshman Award for UT.
