Frye earned his ticket to the NCAAs with his provisional 200M dash time of
20.70, a career best that ranks seventh in school history, to finish second
at the Gatorade Twilight Meet (May 18)...Performed double duty at the NCAA
Championships by running the 200M dash and anchor on the 4x400M relay...Finished
16th to take the last qualifying spot in the NCAA 200M dash preliminaries...Later,
he took 16th in the semifinals with a 21.41, but missed qualifying for the
NCAA finals...In the NCAA 4x400M relay, Frye stepped in for Leonard Scott
and ran a 46.5 split on the anchor leg...The 4x400M relay team ran a 3:06.26,
the second-fastest effort of the season, in the NCAA semifinals with Frye
on the anchor to place 11th but missed out on qualifying for the finals...
Frye clocked in at 21.42 to take eighth and score for the Vols at the SEC
Championships (May 14) in the 200M dash (20.99 in the preliminaries)...Ran
a 21.25 to take 14th at the National Invitational Team Championships (April
21) in Austin, Texas...Ran his season-best 100M dash at the Sea Ray Relays
(April 14) in Knoxville -- a 10.59 to place 15th...Ran a 21.22 to finish 11th
in the 200M dash at the Sea Rays...Took fifth at the SEC Quad (April 1) with
a 21.35 in the 200M dash...Placed third in 21.32 at the Hurricane Collegiate
Invitational (March 18)...Important relay contributor on the two fastest Vol
4x100M relays of the season...Frye ran anchor on Tennessee's best 4x100M relay
efforts of the sesaon, a 40.17 at the Florida Relays and a 40.18 at the SEC
Championships.
Indoor- Finished 12th in the 200M dash preliminaries at the SEC Indoors
with a season-best time of 21.49...Clocked a 21.75 to stand 12th at the Kroger
Invitational...Frye led off the Vols' winning 4x400M relay team (3:16.04)
at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
1999- Claimed ninth in the 200M dash at the SEC Indoors with a time of 21.96...Set top 200M dash time of 21.53 at the U.S. West Invitational in Colorado...Placed fourth in the 200M dash with his time of 21.89 at the Tennessee/Indiana/Ohio State three-way meet...Took fifth in the 200M dash at the IKON Invitational in Johnson City after clocking a 21.80...Outdoors, Frye finished seventh in the 200M dash with a 21.32 at the SEC Outdoor Championships...Frye was on 4x100 relay team that provisionally qualified for nationals with a 39.59, first-place effort at the Sea Ray Relays...Was on Tennessee's sixth-place 4x100 relay team at the SEC Outdoors that finished in 40.11.
1998- Set UT freshman record of 20.79 in the 200M at the World Junior Championships in France...Won bronze at the Championships with final time of 20.94...Third at SEC Indoors in 200M...Fifth at SEC Outdoors in 200M with a time of 21.24...Third in 200M dash at LSU Relays...Runner-up at Sea Rays with a time of 21.00 in the 200M...Finished second in 55M dash and 200M at Indiana meet...Second-place finish in 55M represented career-best time of 6.39...Took second in the 200M at the IKON Invitational with a time of 21.18...Member of distance medley relay team that won at Virginia Tech Invitational...Set career-best of 6.36 in placing second in 55M dash at Tennessee Indoor Classic...Established top time of 6.83 in the 60M at Virginia Tech Invitational...Ran best 100M dash time of 10.48 at Raleigh.
HIGH SCHOOL- High school team won the 1996 Rhode Island state championship...Has won the state championship in the 45, 100, 200, 300 and 400 meter events...Holds the Rhode Island state record in the 45, 55, 60, 100, 200 and 300 meters...Selected as an All-America for the 200 meters...Owner of the state record in the 200M dash...Holds a career-best time of 10.44 in the 100M, 21.13 in the 200M, 5.49 in the 45M and 35.15 in the 300M...Voted Rhode Island's Most Valuable High School Athlete two years in a row...A 16-time All-State selection and 16-time state champion.
