2000-Outdoor-
Colyer served as Tennessee's premier javelin thrower during the season...Notched
his career-best throw of 225-10 at the Georgia Tech Invitational (May 19)
to place fifth...Mark of 225-10 stands fourth on the Tennessee all-time best
list...Earned All-America distinction with 11th place javelin finish (eighth
American) at the NCAA Championships...At the NCAAs, Colyer threw the javelin
217-3 feet...Colyer rose to the occasion at the SEC Championships (May 14)
by contributing precious points with his second-place throw of 223-2, bettering
his then-season best by eight feet...Also finished 12th in the shot put with
a throw of 49-6 1/2 at the SECs...Placed seventh at the Penn Relays with javelin
throw of 215-2...Marked season-best shot put distance of 50-6 and took third
in the javelin (215-1) at the National Invitational Team Championships (April
22) in Austin, Texas...Earned sixth with 209-6 mark in the invite javelin
at the Sea Ray Relays (April 15)...Contributed valuable points to the Vol
effort at the SEC Quad (April 1) with second-place finish in the javelin (210-5)
and fourth in the shot put (49-7 3/4)...Took sixth at Florida Relays (March
25) with javelin mark of 208-11.
Indoor- Concentrated on the shot put during the indoor season...Season-best
shot put mark of 53-5 3/4 to earn fifth came at the Kroger Invitational in
Blacksburg, Va. ...Finished ninth at the SEC Indoors with 52-1 3/4 effort...Fourth
at the UT All-Comers Meet with mark of 52-4 3/4...Took seventh at the Wisconsin
Elite Invitational with mark of 52-5 1/4...Colyer placed second and contributed
valuable points for the Vols with his 53-0 shot put at the SEC Quad.
1999- Won team award for Most Improved Field Athlete...Notched season's best mark, 52-10, at the Tennessee/Indiana/Ohio State three-way meet to claim fourth...Threw the shot 51-09 at the Rod McCravy Memorial in Kentucky to garner sixth...Placed third in the shot at Virginia Tech Invitational behind his throw of 51-0 3/4...Chalked up a 50-09 1/4 mark to earn 11th at the SEC Indoors...In the outdoor season, Colyer won the Georgia Tech Invitational with a 224-05 mark in the javelin to provisionally qualify and notch his season-best throw...Posted javelin throw of 215-07 to win the Smoky Mountain Twilight Meet...Took another title at the Tennessee/Georgia/Kentucky three-way meet with a 200-03 heave...Performed double duty at the Miami Invitational in taking third in javelin (196-07) and fourth in the shot (51-04 1/4)...Contributed a fourth-place, 209-09 mark to the Tennessee effort at the SEC Outdoors.
BEFORE TENNESSEE- Gives Vols valuable experience in championship events...At Wallace State Community College (Ala.), won the junior college championships in both the javelin, with a throw of 224-06, and the shot put (54-09 1/4)...Wallace State won the Junior College National Championship.
HIGH SCHOOL- Threw the javelin 218-10 1/2 and the shot 60-03.
