2000-Outdoor- Bell was limited by injury in both the indoor
and outdoor seasons...Clocked a 15:22.26 finish in the 5000M run at the Florida
Relays (March 24).
Indoor- Notched the third-fastest Vol 3000M run time of the indoor
season with his career-best 8:43.10 effort at the Kroger Invitational (Feb.
12)...Ran the mile in 4:25.60 at the Sprint Invitational in Johnson City,
Tenn. (Jan. 29)...Took seventh in the 3000M run at the SEC Quad with a time
of 8:48.64.
1999- Redshirted.
Cross Country 2000- Co-captain of squad with Scott DeFilippis...Led the Vols in three races (Tenn. Intercollegiate, Greensboro Invitational and the Wolverine Interregional Invitational)...Posted the best Vol time at the 5K Tennessee Intercollegiate (15:19) to place second, the best finish for a Vol all season, and earn SEC Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors...Clocked his best 8K finish (25:43, seventh place) at the Greensboro Invitational...Finished 13th in 26:19.30 at the UT Invitational...Crossed the finish line in 26:39.32 in 25th place at the SEC Championships...Took 27th in 26:03 at the Wolverine Interregional Invitational...Closed out the season with a 49th-place, 33:04.57 effort at the 10K NCAA South Regionals.
Cross Country 1999- Ran to 20th in 25:59.4 at the SEC Championships...Raced to 23rd at the Furman Invitational with a clocking of 26:08...Posted a 46th-place, 26:05.1 effort at the Sam Bell Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. ...Took 65th at the 10K NCAA South Regionals in 32:06.11.
BEFORE TENNESSEE- Joined the Tennessee track squad after competing at Florida in 1998...Stood as the top freshman in the 1998 SEC Cross Country Championships with his 18th-place finish.
HIGH SCHOOL- Attended high school at nearby Farragut...Was the Tennessee high school mile state champion and runner-up in the two-mile run in 1998...Runner-up at the state cross country meet in 1996...Earned two All-State, three All-Region and three All-Conference honors in his high school cross country career...In high school track, garnered All-State status three times, All-Region honors four times and All-KIL nods three times...Member of the state champion Farragut High track squad in 1998...Named Knoxville's Distance Runner of the Year in 1998 and Knoxville's Male Athlete of the Year in 1997.
