Lady Vols' Allen Struggles At USATF Junior Nationals

DENTON, Texas - K.C. Allen, a freshman pole vaulter on the University of Tennessee women's team, suffered a disappointment Friday afternoon when she failed to clear a height at the USA Track & Field Junior National Championships at the University of North Texas' Fouts Field.

Allen missed on her three attempts at the opening height of 11-5.75 and shared that performance with 12 other competitors. Stanford's Kathleen Donoghue won the competition at 12-11.50.

Two more Lady Vol rookies will be in action on Saturday. Janine Tessarzik (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland) will throw the discus at 5:30 p.m., and Christy Baird (Knoxville, Tenn./West) will run in the 3000 meters at 9:30 p.m.
