SEC Track and Field Championships Begin Today

Tennessee's
track and field squad will compete in the SEC Championships May 11-14 at Bernie
Moore Track Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. The Vols are currently ranked 13th in the
Trackwire rankings. Meanwhile, Tennessee holds the top ranking in the Team Power
Rankings designed to measure dual meet strength. Tennessee is tied with host LSU for
the most SEC Outdoor Championships won with 22, more than the other 10 SEC schools
combined.

The decathlon accounts for the majority of the action on Thursday and Friday. The remainder of the events will be held on Saturday and Sunday. See following schedule for exact event times. In an attempt to escape the midday heat, events will be contested in the evening. Tennessee took third in the 1999 SEC Outdoor Championships in Athens, Ga.
