Lady Vols Finish Sixth at SMU Swimming & Diving Classic

Nine representatives competed at elite meet
DALLAS -- The Tennessee Lady Vol swimming and diving team finished in sixth place at the SMU Swimming and Diving Classic at the Perkins Natatorium in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday night. UT recorded 230 points at the two-day event, and Wisconsin claimed first place with 317 points.
On the second night of finals-only competition, junior diver Lizzy Flynt tallied another top performance, finishing third on the three-meter springboard. She recorded an NCAA-qualifying score of 282.85 to collect 12 points. Friday night, she took second on the one-meter. Also posting top-five performances on the second day were sophomore Monica Shannahan (4th - 200y breast; 5th - 200y fly), junior Pam Hanson (4th - 200y back), sophomore Elizabeth Philp (5th - 500y free), and senior Teresa Moodie (4th - 100y free).
The meet, hosted by Southern Methodist, saw the No. 15 Badgers finish first, followed by No. 14 UCLA (296 points), No. 13 Texas (284), the No. 6 Mustangs (274), No. 11 Virginia (273) and the No. 17 Lady Vols.
Following their return to Knoxville, the Lady Vols host one of two home dual meets on the 1999-2000 schedule. The team faces Kentucky in an SEC dual on Saturday, Nov. 13 in the Student Aquatic Center at 1 p.m. Tennessee is currently 2-0 overall in dual meets this season.
