Vol Captains/Coin Toss
- The Tennessee team captains for Saturday's game against Georgia are junior running back John Kelly, redshirt senior Kendal Vickers, redshirt junior defensive back Rashaan Gaulden and redshirt senior punter Trevor Daniel.
- Tennessee lost the coin toss and chose to defend the south goal after Georgia deferred.
- UT is 4-2 on coin tosses this season (3-2 on pregame coin tosses and 1-0 in overtime).
- In 2016, Tennessee won six out of 15 coin tosses, including six out of 13 pregame. The Vols did not win either of their two coin tosses in overtime. UT was 3-3 in 2016 when winning the pregame coin toss.
Tennessee-Georgia Notes
- Tennessee leads its all-time series against Georgia, 23-22-2.
- Saturday's game marked Tennessee's first loss to Georgia in Knoxville since 2013 when the Bulldogs edged the Vols 34-31 in overtime.
Offensive Notes
- FIRST HALF STATS: Tennessee had 64 yards of offense in the first half. Quinten Dormady was 3-for-12 for 11 yards and two interceptions. John Kelly had 12 carries for 40 yards.
Jumper TFLs
- Jumper posted two tackles for loss on Saturday.
- Senior linebacker Colton Jumper and redshirt junior Rashaan Gaulden combined to bring down Sony Michel for a one-yard loss on UGA's third offensive possession.
- With 12:47 left in the second quarter, Jumper brought Jake Fromm down for a six-yard loss at the UGA 29.
- Jumper now has seven tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks in his career.
Defensive Notes
- FIRST HALF STATS: UT held Georgia to 62 yards passing in the first half. Rashaan Gaulden, Quarter Sapp, Micah Abernathy and Kendal Vickers each had
- Tennessee's defense limited Georgia to seven yards on four plays on the Bulldogs' first drive. UGA started on its own 20-yard line and Rodrigo Blankenship made a 38-yard field goal.
- On the first play of Tennessee's second possession, Kendal Vickers brought down Jake Fromm for an eight-yard sack. Vickers now has 1.5 sacks on the season. He was credited with 0.5 sack against UMass on Sept. 23.
- The Vols forced another UGA 3-and-out on Georgia's second possession. The Bulldogs gained no yards on three plays before punting.
- The UT defense forced a 3-and-out on Georgia's third possession, giving up just five yards on three plays. Justin Martin broke up a pass from Jake Fromm intended for Javon Wims on 3rd-and-5 from the UGA 25.
- With 14:57 on the clock in the second quarter, Justin Martin intercepted a pass from Fromm at the UGA 27. The pick was the first of Martin's career and the second of the season for the Vols.
Special Teams Highlights
- Ja'Quain Blakely logged two special teams tackles on Trevor Daniel's first two punts of the game, which went for 56 yards and 53 yards.
- Daniel finished the game with eight punts for 373 yards.
- Entering the game, Daniel ranked second in the SEC and third nationally among FBS punters with an average of 47.6 yards per attempt. His career average of 45.4 ranked third in both the SEC and NCAA entering Saturday's game.
- Recording efforts of 56 (1Q), 53 (1Q), 52 (2Q) and 53 (4Q), Daniel has boomed 13 punts over 50 yards this season. He has also placed 13 punts inside the 20 this season and 66 during his career.
VFLs In Attendance
- VFL and 2017 NFF/College Football Hall of Famer inductee Peyton Manning was honored at halftime on the field along with fellow hall of famers Doug Dickey, Frank Emmanuel, Phillip Fulmer, Bob Johnson, Chip Kell, Steve Kiner, Johnny Majors and John Michaels.
- After he was honored at midfield, Manning fired a pass to the back of the end zone to VFL and his old UT teammate Joey Kent.
- VFL Deon Grant was in attendance as well.
