KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee Lady Vol swimming & diving team was named a Scholar-Athlete All-American squad by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), while redshirt sophomore diver Tori Lamp was tabbed a Primetime Performer by CollegeSports360.com.
Tennessee was one of 163 women's Division I teams that qualified for the CSCAA awards list by having a GPA of 3.00 or above. The Lady Vols have now earned the distinction for three straight seasons and own a 3.18 cumulative team GPA.
The award is presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall semester and in the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (Winter/Spring).
Selected as the Southeastern Conference Diver of the Year, Lamp was one of 16 student-athletes to be named a Primetime Performer. At the league meet hosted by UT, the Knoxville native won the platform competition with a conference and Lady Vol record score of 335.50. She also claimed runner up on both the 1- and 3-meter boards, with her 3-meter tally of 381.85 being a UT record.
The CollegeSports360 Primetime Performer awards program goes beyond simply the raw stats or results, instead taking into account the quality of the opposition, contribution to team success and other situational factors (such as all-around play, leadership, clutch efforts, adversity overcome, etc.).
