Popson and Rohrback Lead LV Golf on Day 2

NEW ORLEANS - Led by superb performances from freshman Kaitlyn Rohrback and sophomore Erica Popson, the 15th-ranked Tennessee Lady Vol golf team sits in 11th place at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Championship after Monday's second round.
UT fired a day-two 7-over 295 at the English Turn Golf and Country Club and has a 595 (+19) total score. The Lady Vols are just six shots out of fifth-place in a field that features 12 of 17 teams ranked in the Golfstat Top-25.
"We had three good scores again today, but again had to count an 80," Lady Vol head coach Judi Pavon said. "Kaitlyn was phenomenal today. She is a tough player and had a great day. Erica had a great round, as well, and Nathalie (Mansson) played solid. We are doing a lot of good things, but we are also making a few mistakes that are common for the first tournament of the spring. We are within reach of several teams if we can turn in four good scores tomorrow."
A day after shooting an 83, Rohrback fired a 2-under 70 at the par-72, 6,105-yard course. She had four birdies en route to her season-best performance. It's also the Crofton, Md., native's third par-or-better score in just her eighth collegiate round. She moved from tied-for-89th to in a tie for 56th with 18 holes left to play.
Popson also had four birdies and finished with 1-under 71. She is tied for 12th with a 145 (+1) total. The round was her fifth par-or-below score this season.
Mansson, a junior All-American, fired a 74 and has a 147 (+3) two-day mark to tie her for 19th.
Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Vols was Sara Monberg. The Juelsminde, Denmark, native carded an 80 and is tied for 56th with a 153 (+9) two-day total.
Lauren Spurlock was Tennessee's fifth player, tallying an 82. She is tied for 88th at 162 (+19).
No. 1 Alabama takes a four-shot lead into the final round. The Crimson Tide (+6) holds a slight lead over No. 2 USC (+10) and tournament-host Tulane (+10).
Alabama's Stephanie Meadow (-6 138) holds a one stroke lead over LSU's Megan McChrystal in the individual battle.
