Irish Pair Excel on Day Four of Games

Tennessee swimmers Barry Murphy and Ryan Harrison shined Wednesday in the 100-meter breaststroke on day four of the World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia.
Murphy, who finished his NCAA eligibility in 2009, won his heat and placed 17th in the field with a 50.02 mark. Murphy served as the first alternate in the semifinals of the event.
Harrison swam in the same heat as Murphy and placed third, two spots behind his teammate. The Londonderry, Northern Ireland, native finished 22nd in the field of 72 swimmers with a time of 50.19. Harrison, a redshirt freshman, will begin his first year of collegiate competition at Tennessee in the fall of 2009.
Harrison and Murphy both represent Ireland in the games.
Murphy and rising junior Mattias Kahlin will compete Thursday in the 50m breaststroke.
