Hewitt Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

Tennessee junior John Hewitt was named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
To qualify, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or the NCAA Division I Outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in their respective event.
Hewitt met the GPA requirement at the conclusion of the 2009 season and qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional in the 400m hurdles with a career-best time of 51.58 at the SEC Championships. He finished ninth at the conference meet and went on to place 13th at the regional meet in 52.66. He is a three-time letterman and a three-time selection to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
