Five Former Vols in Action at USA Championships

Five former Tennessee athletes are scheduled to compete Thursday-Sunday at the USA Track and Field Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Two seniors from the 2009 squad along with three other alumni of the program are entered into eight events. Nick Panezich and Akeem Hardnett, who both just completed their collegiate eligibility at the NCAA Championships, are entered in the shot put and triple jump, respectively.
Two-time All-America Garland Porter (2004-05) will compete in the hammer throw, while 17-time All-America Rubin Williams (2005-08) will run the 100m and 200m. Anthony Famiglietti (1999-2000), a three-time All-America, has qualified in the steeplechase, 5,000m and 10,000m, though he will not run all three races.
The top finishers from the USA Championships will earn entry into the World Championships held August 15-23 in Berlin, Germany.
ESPN and NBC will air select portions of the meet on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. ESPN has coverage Friday from 8-10 p.m. ET and Saturday from 7:30-9:30 p.m. NBC will air its coverage Sunday from 4-6 p.m. Streaming video and live results are available throughout the meet at www.USATF.org.
