Lady Vol Diary - Martina Moravcikova
March 10, 2008 | Women's Swimming & Diving
When I was a little girl, I had dreams. One time, I told my mom that I would become one of the top swimmers in my country, I would be studying at a sports??? grammar high school in Prague, and I would train under the best high school coach in the Czech Republic. Finally, after finishing high school, I would not continue to train and get my education in the Czech Republic, but I would do that at a college in the USA. I was 10 years old when I told my dreams to her. I don???t know if she actually realized that all of this was going to happen.
??
Well here I am. Being a Lady Vol is the best thing that has ever happened to me. When I look back to the first time I saw the University of Tennessee, I was simply impressed. I loved the school and I loved the team and coaches. I was looking forward to starting a new part of my life at UT.
??
When the season started, I was looking forward to every practice. I taught myself how to practice well, how to listen to my body and how to be a part of the team. On my team in the Czech Republic, I was an individual. Coaches in the Czech Republic mainly focus on just one swimmer on the team because that is the way to do well. Here at Tennessee, I am one of many but still a unique individual.
??
What I like about being a Lady Vol is how we are one big family. We support each other; we love cheering for each other, and we help each other understand things. To my teammates and coaches- thank you so much for your patience with me. I love you all. LET???S GO LADY VOLS!
