The Tennessee men's track and field team moved up to fifth this week in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll. The Vols were ranked sixth last week before qualifying 10 individuals and two relay teams for next week's NCAA Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, Calif.
Florida State, the defending outdoor champion, leads the rankings and is followed by LSU. Southern California and Auburn are ranked third and fourth. Mississippi is 13th, giving the SEC four teams ranked in the poll that recognizes the top-20 teams in the nation.
Thirty-five coaches, including one representative from each Division I conference, vote in the USTFCCCA Division I poll. The complete poll can be found at www.ustfccca.com.
The NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held June 6-9 on the campus of Sacramento State University. Hornet Stadium, located in the A.G. Spanos Sports Complex and home to Sacramento State's track and football teams, is the largest in the Big Sky Conference and currently has a listed capacity of 21,000.
