Berg Claims 2nd-Team Academic Honors

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - University of Tennessee sophomore setter Jena Berg has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Second Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday. Berg currently holds a cumulative GPA of 3.49 as a member of the sport management program at Tennessee.
After serving as a defensive specialist for most of 2006, Berg has been the Lady Vols??? primary setter for the majority of the 2007 campaign. She currently ranks seventh among all Southeastern Conference players and leads UT with an average of 10.10 assists per game. Berg also ranks second on the team with 3.05 digs per game and third with 262 total digs.
The Orange and White will next return home for a season-long, three-match homestand. First up for the Lady Vols is No. 10 Florida, which will make the trip to Rocky Top for a 7 p.m. showdown on Nov. 9 at Stokely Athletics Center. That contest will be followed by a 1:30 match up with South Carolina two days later, before UT hosts a mid-week showdown with border-rival Kentucky at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
