Tennessee's Tim Kelly earned Oct. 8 SEC Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors for leading the Volunteers to the Cardinal Classic win last Saturday in Louisville, Ky.
The senior from Smithtown, N.Y., finished as the top collegian and fourth runner overall to pace the Vols to a 32-80 victory against Eastern Kentucky and 16 other squads.
Kelly ran the 8K course at Louisville's Shelby campus in 25:06.66, 1:37 faster than his previous season best. Kelly passed runner after runner in a strong final two-mile charge to lead Tennessee to its first victory of the season.
Kelly did not make the trip for Friday's Auburn Invitational because of illness.
