Lady Vol Divers Have Successful Summer Outing In Texas

AUSTIN, Texas - University of Tennessee diver Jaime Sanger won both the one-meter and three-meter springboard diving competitions to lead a contingent of Lady Vol divers at the Texas Diving Open this weekend.
Sanger earned high point scorer honors as she captured both of the events. She tallied a total of 251.20 in the one-meter and scored 434.70 on the three-meter. The rising junior from Plymouth, Minn., is one of two returning All-American divers for Tennessee and was competing for her club team, Tennessee Diving, coached by Lady Vol diving coach Dave Parrington. A pair of other Lady Vols, including returning All-American Kylee Wells, also competed in Texas. Wells, a native of Russiaville, Ind., finished fourth on the one-meter with a score of 183.5 and third on the three-meter with a tally of 368.3. Wells will be a sophomore for the upcoming 2001-02 diving season.
The final member of the Lady Vol contingent was Stacy Binyon, who will be a junior in 2001-02. The Southlake, Texas, native finished seventh on the one-meter with a total score of 175.15 and second on the platform with a mark of 345.85 in the return to her home state. Binyon, who was also competing for Tennessee Diving, missed most of the 2000-01 season with injuries and illness before returning to action for Tennessee at the SEC Championships.
