Swimmers Asti, DeWitz Earn Academic Honors

Tennessee swimmer Lance Asti was one of 24 student-athletes, one male and one female from each Southeastern Conference institution, chosen as a recipient of an SEC Post-graduate scholarship. Asti, a native of West Bloomfield, Mich., will also represent Tennessee as a finalist for the 2000-2001 H. Boyd McWhorter SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. Asti will receive a $5,000 scholarship for post-graduate studies and be eligible for a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship if chosen as the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Tennessee swimmer Zane DeWitz was named to the 2000-2001 Verizon Academic All-America First Team. A senior from East Wenatchee, Wash., DeWitz was a first team selection last season and a third-team selection the previous year. A six-time All-America honoree for his athletic accomplishments, DeWitz earned a 3.94 GPA while majoring in psychology to earn the distinction. DeWitz was named the Verizon Academic All-District IV First Team earlier this season.
