Garrett Throws Season-Best Shot Put Mark At Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Tennessee's Tyler Garrrett posted a season-best 58-8 3/4 throw to win the shot put Wednesday night at the Fast Times Invitational, a last chance meet to improve on qualifying marks to earn a spot in the NCAA Indoor Championships, at Florida. The throw boosted his provisional mark five inches from a previous season-best effort Feb. 10 at the Pepsi Valentine's Invitational at Virginia Tech. Garrett's 58-8 3/4 effort also stands as an indoor personal best. However, Garrett appears unlikely to make the NCAA Indoor field.
