The Tennessee swimming and diving team held its 24th Orange and White meet Thursday afternoon at the Student Aquatic Center with the White coming away with a 124-107 victory over the Orange. The win extends the White squad's lead in the all-time series to 14-10 .
The Orange squad won the opening 400 medley relay to grab an early lead, but the White team quickly gained control of the meet by taking the top two spots in the next four events.
"This is the earliest Orange and White meet out of the 24 and it showed," head coach John Trembley said. "We have a lot of work to do, but I was impressed with Andrew Bree, Renato Gueraldi and Brett Tannhauser."
The White team also swept the diving events with a 1-2 finish in both the one meter and three meter events. Phillip Jones took top honors, and Jake Dorsey finished second in both. Freshman diver Sal Vilardo did not compete due to back spasms.
"I was encouraged by what I saw," head diving coach Dave Parrington said. " It was nice to see a freshman like Phillip Jones come in here and compete. Jake Dorsey also competed well."
The Vols next meet will be the SEC East Dual Meet Extravaganza in Gainesville, Fla. from Oct. 10-13.
